Fit4Dogs hydrotherapy centre for canines
Fit4Dogs is a canine hydrotherapy centre, owned by Kirsty and Mike Skeates in Beverley. The facility provides dog owners in Beverley the East Riding with rehabilitation therapy for their pets.

The unit on Bankside Court had previously been used for industrial storage and our team at Eznat initially helped Kirsty to apply for change of use of the building and later prepared Building Regulations drawings and application
Eznat was able to show that other property in the area had not been restricted to industrial use and planning officers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council were very helpful.

Mike Skeates converted the building himself to make it fit for purpose. Garness Jones chartered surveyors helped with the lease and we were pleased to have secured the change of use to accommodate the hydro pool measuring 6 x 3 metres, which included a state-of-the-art underwater treadmill, physiotherapy area and storage space for doggie life jackets.

Arthritis is a very common problem for dogs with one in three affected and the hydro pool is an effective form of pain management. As such, Fit4Dogs has been busy raising awareness of the benefits of hydrotherapy for dogs.
Kirsty also works with dogs recovering from accidents or suffering from other medical conditions. Hydrotherapy has been found to reduce the need for otherwise costly medication.

The pool is heated to between 29 and 32 degrees and has jets so the dogs can swim against the resistance and it is big enough for any sized dog.

As architects, Eznat’s background is typically in housing associations and residential developments for humans, but our work has led to us being involved in more general business opportunities. We were delighted to work on a new business venture, this time catering for our four-legged friends. It was a real pleasure to work on the project.
